Role of Dentistry in Global Health: Challenges and Research Priorities.

摘要: Despite some improvements in the oral health of populations globally, major problems remain all over planet, most notably among underprivileged communities low- and middle-income countries but also high-income countries. Furthermore, essential care has been a privilege, instead right, for individuals. The release Lancet issue on July 2019 built up momentum put conditions dental services limelight. Yet, much work is still needed to bridge gap between research global get recognized as population priority worldwide. Using framework proposed by Shiffman, we argue that network must be harnessed influence policy drive system reform. We have identified challenges around 4 key areas (problem definition, positioning, coalition building, governance) from our experience working arena with collaborators multidisciplinary teams. These are outlined here validate them externally call attention interested players inside outside dentistry. How well profession addresses these will shape performance during Sustainable Development Goals era beyond. This analysis followed discussion fundamental gaps knowledge, particularly 3 action: 1) epidemiology information systems; 2) collection, harmonization, rigorous assessment evidence prevention, equity, treatment; 3) optimal strategies delivering quality who need it without financial hardship.
