摘要: The elevation of Earth's surface is among the most difficult environmental variables to reconstruct from geological record. Here we describe an approach paleoaltimetry based on independent and simultaneous determinations soil temperatures oxygen isotope compositions waters, constrained by measurements abundances ^(13)C-^(18)O bonds in carbonates. We use this show that Altiplano plateau Bolivian Andes rose at average rate 1.03 ± 0.12 millimeters per year between ~10.3 ~6.7 million years ago. This consistent with removal dense lower crust and/or lithospheric mantle as cause gain.
