摘要: Silicon carbide (SiC) composites reinforced with 0~50 mass% (0~47 vol%) of chopped Tyranno ® Si-Al-C (SA) fibres (mean length: 394 μm) and 5 mol% aluminium (Al4C3) sintering aid were fabricated using the uniaxial hot pressing method (1800 o C/30 min/31 MPa). The maximum relative density specimens was 96.8% for case 40 SA fibre addition. mean fracture toughness, KIC, composite always higher compared to that monolithic SiC specimen (2.6 MPa·m 1/2 ) a KIC value 4.0 being achieved containing 30 fibre. Furthermore, use carbon interface (interface thickness: ≈100 nm) increased 5.8 .
