摘要: At the Goddard Laboratory for Atmospheric Sciences (GLAS) we have developed a physically based satellite temperature sounding retrieval system, involving simultaneous analysis of HIRS2 and MSU data, determining atmospheric surface conditions which are consistent with observed radiances. In addition to accurate profiles even in presence cloud contamination, system provides global estimates day night sea or land temperatures, snow ice cover, parameters related cover. The inverse radiative transfer equation approach multi-spectral details its implementation, described. Ice, snow, fields derived January 1979 other measures similar obtained from AVHRR SMMR. Monthly mean sea-surface agree those ship buoy measurements 0.5°C.
