摘要: Publisher Summary Clinical electrophysiological measurements have a long history in the assessment of visual disorders caused by ocular pathology. Starting from seminal studies Halliday and his group multiple sclerosis (MS), other neurological were investigated, using techniques electroretinogram (ERG), evoked potentials (VEP). The first studies, which asserted that impairment is intrinsic to Parkinson's disease (PD), performed VEP technique. Subsequent ERG psychophysical refined understanding deficit PD allowed new insights into pathophysiology illness. Because clinical basic physiological roles neurotransmitter dopamine (DA) process received increasing attention. Consequent PD, neurodegenerative with possible involvement DA been explored visuodiagnostic tools. In this chapter, electrodiagnostic, and, whenever possible, imaging data on processing described related disorders. First, it summarizes physiology functional role retina. While evidence for retinal deficiency as cause compelling, higher processes are also affected.
