摘要: With heightened awareness of long-term neurocognitive effects pain and stress in the neonatal population, increased focus has been placed on assessment as well potential routinely administered analgesics/sedatives our intensive care units (NICUs). Our goal was to review recently published literature current practices, novel approaches management, pharmacogenomics neonate, risks commonly used medications. There is an increasing trend administration analgesics sedatives NICUs, despite reports negative these medications may have brain development. As adult world, studies are finding that play a significant role adequate control sedation individual patient. Due adverse such morphine midazolam, new pharmacologic agents being evaluated population possibly safer alternatives. advances knowledge ranging from better understanding development NICU setting. These developments opened door for continued learning investigation into ideal management sedation.
