摘要: The efficacy of 9 repellents (8 commercial and one product under development) was evaluated on the skin at dosages 0.65 1.7 mg product/cm2, latter dosage being industrial standard for deet based repellents. were applied to arm or lower leg a human subject tested against Anopheles stephensi in cage flying freely mosquito-proof room. In tests, with 20% p-menthane-3, 8-diol (PMD) active ingredient provided complete repellency 7-8 hours, while 10% PMD had only 30 minutes. natural oils clove (Syzygium aromaticum) (10% ingredient) plus makaen (Zanthoxylum limonella) gave protection 4-5 hours. case free mosquitoes, products 30% 11-12 hours mg/cm2 6 half dosage, afforded less than 2 At higher rate 40% citronella hydroxyethyl isobutyl piperidine carboxylate, new synthetic compound, 7 Fifty percent (N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide) effective if left undisturbed skin.
