Review article: Medical therapy for fistulizing Crohn's disease.

摘要: ummary Background Fistulae will develop in approximately one-third of patients with Crohn's disease. With an expected spontaneous healing rate only 10%, fistulizing disease requires a comprehensive strategy medical and possible surgical approach. Aim To summarize the current literature evaluating various options for treating disease. Methods A review was conducted using PubMed (search terms: fistula) manual search references among identified studies relevant papers to identify that present data on treatment disease. Results The first line therapy remains antibiotics (metronidazole ciprofloxacin). Mercaptopurine azathioprine are medications effective The gold standard induce maintain remission is infliximab. Used as induction therapy, infliximab produced 62% clinical response, complete closure 46%. A maintenance trial demonstrated at 54 weeks, 46% receiving continued respond treatment, compared 23% placebo group (P = 0.001). Conclusion Further research find new therapies improve our existing required.
