摘要: Abstract Gametogenesis and intra-gonadal nutrient storage utilization are linked processes during sea urchin reproduction. Dynamically interacting germinal somatic cellular populations make up the epithelium of gonad. Uniquely among edible animal reproductive products, gonads grow in size not only because gametogenesis increases and/or numbers cells present, but also within epithelium, nutritive phagocytes, store extensive reserves before begins. Here we provide an up-to-date discussion unique nature gametogenesis, including gonad structure, dual gametogenic functions gonads, annual structural molecular/genomic variation environmental control. Knowledge these phenomena has led to successful manipulation reproduction will increasingly opportunities for aquaculture worldwide.
