摘要: Damage to the brain can affect core of individual, i.e. self. Results from a small number studies with amnesic individuals indicate that patients’ ability show preserved knowledge self may vary. The present study explored self-knowledge in patients memory impairment as result confabulation, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease and acquired damage. We found different disorders differentially affected self-knowledge. At least some showed sense self, were able acquire information about another person they had met postmorbidly. Frontal function stability impairments over time appear be two variables important determining whether have consistent updated also extent which self-referential other-referential processing might enhance memory-impairment. self-reference effect (SRE) otherreference (ORE) been consistently normal adults. indicated SRE ORE. ORE appeared at partly dependent on degree being referenced, related general frontal function. Only SRE, however, was improve emotional processing. These findings implications for caregivers healthcare professionals working memory-impaired patients, pave way novel rehabilitation methods.
