摘要: A detailed study has been made of the observation metastable transitions in first field-free region a double-focussing mass spectrometer Nier—Johnson geometry by scanning simultaneously magnetic field B and electric sector E such that B/E remains constant throughout scan. The linked scan provides convenient method determining daughter ions formed from chosen parent ion and, because transmission characteristics associated with this type scan, sharp peaks are observed irrespective amount internal energy released as translational fragments. This greatly facilitates accuracy which ratio can be determined also allows wide range ratios to investigated at full source sensitivity. gives equally good results when used collision-induced decompositions. origin several low-intensity artefact is established methods recognising discussed. complements other investigating already use likely find most application analytical problems.
