摘要: Research and policy on occupational health safety have understandably focused workers as the direct victims of workplace hazards. However, serious illness, injury, or death at work also has cascading psychological, social, economic effects victims' families close friends. These been neglected by researchers policymakers. The number persons immediately affected is significant, even in rich countries with relatively low rates fatality. Every year, more than 5,000 family members friends Australian become survivors traumatic work-related (TWD). This study investigated health, financial consequences TWD surviving families. In-depth exploratory interviews were conducted seven who had experienced from one to 20 years before interviews, an average three years. All reported consequences, including prolonged grief unresolved loss, physical problems, disruption behavioral children, immediate difficulties, disturbance longer-term commitments such retirement planning. Recommendations for development improved practice are proposed minimize trauma suffering families, mitigate improve outcomes following a TWD.
