摘要: Aim Weight and height are usually self-reported in population-based epidemiological surveys. While the accuracy of self-reports has been extensively studied younger populations, less is known older populations. We investigated weight, body mass (BMI) an cohort Japan, where overweight/obesity underweight coexist. Methods used data from Japanese adults (≥65 years) participating Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study 2016 to 2017 (7357 men 9271 women). Self-report were linked objective obtained clinical examinations. Results The mean ± standard deviation (SD) age was 74.5 5.8 years, SD BMI 55.7 10.1 kg, 156.0 8.9 cm 22.8 3.1, respectively. showed high intraclass correlation coefficients for measured values (0.97 weight; 0.96 height). weight/height overestimated among (weight by 0.096 kg; 0.27 cm) women 0.18 cm), tended be slightly underestimated (-0.034 kg/m2 men; -0.037 However, absolute differences between not negligible; people had a higher risk both under- overestimation their category with increasing age. Lower education predicted overestimation, whereas lower income underestimation. Conclusions Overall habitus this compared previous reports. Nevertheless, misclassification due misreporting more common oldest-old, as well those income. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2020; ••: ••-••.
