Triads in the L2 classroom: Interaction patterns and engagement during a collaborative task

摘要: Abstract Communication is a primary goal of most second and foreign language classes, teachers frequently implement group work to maximize opportunities for interaction. Previous research has investigated the communicative exchanges between paired learners during collaborative tasks, but few studies have examined interactions among in triads. The present study explores this context, focusing specifically on distribution participation learners, frequency nature LREs they produce, patterns interaction that characterize triadic exchanges. This descriptive investigation documents learners' rather than attempts establish link their performance learning. findings offer no evidence indicate triads are superior or inferior do affirm importance true collaboration Also interesting these participants' almost exclusive use first carrying out task. results showcase challenging realities classroom highlight several pedagogical implications.
