摘要: Objective: To explore the pattern of prescription benzodiazepines in internal medicine outpatients at a tertiary care hospital. The study included thetypes used, gender and age preference, indication prescription,past history use, dosage length prescription. Methodology: This cross sectional was undertaken from 1st Januaryto1stof March 2011 Internal during this time were indentifiedthrough hospital database. Relevant data charts patientswas recorded on preformed questionnaire. All collected analyzedin SPSS 17.0. Results: Out 1706 patients attending outpatient clinics, 11.1% patientswere prescribed benzodiazepines. Female older associatedwith higher rate Intermediate acting to 98.4% patients, most commonly drugs. Most common for benzodiazepine anxiety anddepression. mentioned only 19% cases. Only 24.3% had previously been drug. Conclusion: hospitalis comparable that developed countries. Due grave potentialfor abuse, regulation regarding use class drugs is extremelyimportant. Data other studies country seem tosuggest awareness topic place. However, further widespreadstudies need be carried out community level.
