Tuning micelle dimensions and properties with binary surfactant mixtures.

摘要: Detergent micelles are used in many areas of research and technology, particular, as mimics the cellular membranes purification biochemical structural characterization membrane proteins. Applications detergent often hindered by limited set properties commercially available detergents. Mixtures micelle-forming detergents provide a means to systematically obtain additional micellar expand repertoire micelle features available; however, our understanding mixtures is still limited. In this study, shape size binary seven different commonly molecular host-guest systems protein were investigated. The data suggests that form ideally mixed with sizes shapes from those pure individual micelles. For most measurements size, varied linearly mole fraction therefore can be calculated values We propose such geometry, surface charge predictably tuned for specific applications.
