摘要: Creatinine is normally used to evaluate kidney function among elderly patients in clinical practice, which has been reported be affected by socio-demographic factors like BMI and age. Cystatin C a newly introduced biomarker may more efficient identifying obese aged CKD patients. The aim of the current study was assess effect on endogenous biomarkers (cystatin creatinine) Malaysia, first such country. conducted at Hospital University Sains Kelantan. A total 300 Malay participants ≥ 65 years, with CKD, were taken study. Demographic data, blood pressure, weight, height documented. Serum creatinine assayed Chemistry Analyzer Model Architect-C8000 (Jaffe Method), while serum cystatin examined Human ELISA kit (Sigma-Aldrich) using Thermo Scientific Varioskan Flash reader. divided into three groups basis There statistically significant difference p value < 0.05 level for age [F (2, 297) = 1.98, value 0.045]. Patients four BMI. results one-way ANOVA revealed mean (3, 396) = 2.99, 0.032]. However, no differences between levels observed patient’s not related chronic disease clearly evaluates role as good competitor
