摘要: A high power, liquid‐anode, Alkali Metal Thermal‐To‐Electric Conversion (AMTEC) unit design is developed and optimized. Optimized parameters include: number of BASE elements; spacing between elements their arrangement in rows columns; electrode’s surface area per element; diameter the orifices internal radiation heat shield. The effects these on size, mass performance AMTEC when operating at condenser temperatures 1123 K 670 K, respectively, are discussed. specific power Na maximum a WRh1.5 140.8 cm2 element. total 128 elements, electrically connected series, deliver nominal 5.6 kWe which 84% peak (6.7 kWe). arranged 4 32 each, resulting nearly square footprint, minimum parasitic losses, efficiency.
