Stimulation of 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) production by actinomycetes after cyclic chlorination in drinking water distribution systems

摘要: The impact of fluctuation in chlorine residual on actinomycetes and the production 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) were studied cast-iron PVC model distribution systems. Actinomycetes spiked each system continued operation for a 12-day non-chlorine experiment, resulting no changes MIB concentrations. Three cyclic chlorination events performed residuals maintained as follows: 1.0 mg L−1 24 h, 0 mg 48 h, 0.5 mg 48 h 2 mg 24 h. After event, 2 -3 log decrease was noted both However, within at chlorine, recovered to pre-chlorination levels.
