摘要: The biocompatibility of porous implants made Estane 5714 F1 polyether urethane, polypropylene oxide, and a poly(ethylene oxide hydantoin) poly(tetramethylene terephthalate) segmented polyester copolymer (HPOE/PBT copolymer), which were selected as candidates for an alloplastic tympanic membrane, was assessed after implantation in rat middle ears periods up to 1 year. Implantation the materials led tissue reactions initially associated with wound-healing process, whereas month not only presence macrophages foreign-body giant cells surrounding implant but also degradation characteristic reaction. Macrophages dominated picture oxide. altered morphology these cells, persistent infiltration sites by exudate premature death five rats 1-year group suggest that accompanied release toxic substances. did induce responses reflecting toxicity, membranes given alloplasts showed normal healing pattern. Inclusions cytoplasm phagocytosis all polymers under study found contain iron, silicon, titanium, aluminum. Growth fibrous bone, latter into HPOE/PBT implants, indicated appropriate fixation tissue, although present well. Especially ingrowth bone seems promising terms amount pores electron-dense bone/copolymer interface. is indicative bonding osteogenesis. better candidate membrane than Estane, use cannot be recommended.
