摘要: Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) remains a major cause of secondary hypertension and kidney failure. Randomized prospective trials show that medical treatment should constitute the main therapeutic approach in ARAS. Regardless intensive adequate blood pressure control, however, extrarenal complications are not uncommon. Yet, precise mechanisms, accurate detection, optimal ARAS remain elusive. Strategies oriented to early detection targeting these pathogenic pathways might prevent development clinical end points. Here, we review results recent trials, current understanding novel imaging techniques assess damage ARAS, options.
