摘要: Abstract Patients with neuromuscular disorders often present swallowing difficulties due to oral phase problems and pharyngeal residue after swallow. It is important assess the underlying pathology cause of disturbance in this patient group, such as dystrophic changes masticatory muscles. This allows for more patient-tailored recommendations, example optimal compensation strategies maintain function longer. Ultrasound can show structural caused by dystrophy or denervation muscles, detect involuntary movements fasciculations, provide dynamic video images tongue motion during attempts. paper, based on authors' extensive experience ultrasound disease, explains concepts muscle its proven value assessing mastication problems. As a patient-friendly portable technique, we advocate use standard tool analyzing dysphagia. article protected copyright. All rights reserved.
