摘要: The cracking of zinc spangles on hot dipped galvanized sheet steel was studied under controlled conditions. It confirmed that there are two major modes failure—boundary and intragranular basal cleavage. There four types surface topographiesviz “mirror-like”, “feathery”, “dimpled” “ridged”. Of these only the last type, “ridged”, found to have its planes lying at an angle plane sheet. These also tended fracture most readily when strained. Hence a relationship between topography, crystallographic orientation behavior has been established. implications findings for paint adherence is discussed.
