Nonlinear electromagnetic response of graphene: frequency multiplication and the self-consistent-field effects

摘要: Graphene is a recently discovered carbon-based material with unique physical properties. This monolayer of graphite, and the two-dimensional electrons holes in it are described by effective Dirac equation vanishing mass. As consequence, electromagnetic response graphene predicted to be strongly nonlinear. We develop quasi-classical kinetic theory nonlinear graphene, taking into account self-consistent-field effects. The system both harmonic pulse excitation considered. frequency multiplication effect, resulting from nonlinearity response, studied under realistic experimental conditions. upconversion efficiency analyzed as function applied electric field parameters samples. Possible applications terahertz electronics discussed.
