摘要: Background: Berlin Questionnaire (BQ), an English language screening tool for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in primary care, has been applied tertiary settings, with variable results. Aims: Development of BQ Portuguese version and evaluation its utility a disordered breathing clinic (SDBC). Material methods: was translated using back translation methodology prospectively applied, previously to cardiorespiratory study, 95 consecutive subjects, referred SDBC, OSA suspicion. risk assessment based on responses 10 items, organized 3 categories: snoring witnessed apneas (category 1), daytime sleepiness 2), high blood pressure (HBP)/obesity 3). Results: In the studied sample, 67.4 % were males, mean age 51 ± 13 years. Categories 1, 2 positive 91.6, 24.2 66.3 %, respectively. identified 68.4 patients as being group remaining 31.6 low risk. sensitivity specificity 72.1 50 respectively, apnea-hipopnea index (AHI) > 5, 82.6 44.8 AHI 15, 88.4 39.1 30. Being did not infl uence signifi cantly probability having disease (positive likelihood ratio [LR] between 1.44-1.49). Only items related loudness, HBP/obesity presented statistically association AHI, model constituted by their presenting greater discrimination capability, especially 5 (sensitivity 65.2 specifi city 80 LR 3.26).
