Incidence and duration of breastfeeding for term infants in Canada, United States, Europe, and Australia: a literature review.

摘要: Abstract: Background: Analysis of differences in the incidence and duration breastfeeding across countries may provide information about practices that encourage breastfeeding. This comparative review examines variation for term infants has been reported studies from Canada, United States, Europe, Australia. Methods: Searches were conducted PubMed, MEDLINE (from 1966), CINHAL 1982), Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews. Studies limited to nonexperimental observational research addressed (>37 weeks gestational age), performed developed countries, written English language, published since 1990. Additional located reference lists meta-analyses, systematic reviews, previous articles. All met study criteria included review, regardless quality methodology. Results: Although had methodological limitations precluded conducting a formal or meta-analysis, this revealed consistent among countries. For example, Europe Australia higher initiation compared with Canada States. Conclusions: examined reasons consistently document women who initiate continue breastfeed are older, married, better educated, have family incomes than do not breastfeed.
