摘要: Every week there is a national news story involving collegiate student-athlete, and oftentimes the tale relates to social work education issue. There are 731 programs, yet none offers coursework in student-athlete behavior their environment. Student-athletes experience same developmental challenges as nonathletes, mental health disorders, substance abuse challenges, criminal justice involvement can be exacerbated by dual roles. This article describes structure of sports athletic department counseling case management strategies; explores content areas, educational policy accreditation standards, related vulnerabilities; it presents avenues explore issues within curricula. The concludes with benefits integrating athletics into education.
