Axial-impact buckling modes and energy absorption properties of thin-walled corrugated tubes with sinusoidal patterns

摘要: Abstract Corrugated tubes with sinusoidal patterns were studied to improve the energy absorption properties of traditional circular and reduce initial peak force. The effects radius-thickness ratio, wavelength, amplitude corrugated under an axial impact determined using LS-DYNA. numerical simulations show that tube deformation can be classified into three crushed modes, namely, dynamic asymptotic buckling, plastic transition buckling. theoretical equation for buckling was developed predict force certain assumptions. prediction results are consistent findings simulations.
