摘要: We show how the magnetic properties of Pt/Co ultrathin film structure can be modified and even controlled under uniform irradiation by Ga+ ions at low fluence in 20–100 keV range. A systematic magneto-optical study is presented for Pt/Co(1.4 nm)/Pt(111) ultrathin-film structure. At ion fluences below D=1014 Ga+/cm2, coercive field steadily reduced when increasing fluence. large fluences, range D=(5–10)×1014 Ga+ ions/cm2, magnetization Co layer drops rapidly finally becomes paramagnetic room temperature D>2×1015 Ga+ ions/cm2. demonstrate that these changes are related to effect ion-induced collisional intermixing Co/Pt interfaces, leading formation stable Co–Pt alloys with varying composition across interfaces. simple model derived relate beam-induced mixing properties. The present work allows us gain a quantitative understanding previous experiments using focused beam pattern similar samples sub-100 nm scale.
