摘要: Publisher Summary The excitation of molecular rotation and vibration by electron impact plays an important role in the energy loss mechanisms low-energy electrons gases. These processes are thus importance transport ionospheres earth other planets electrical discharges laboratory. This chapter starts with a single-center partial-wave analysis scattering rigid rotating molecule given Arthurs Dalgarno. uses laboratory fixed frame reference. It then shows how exchange polarization effects can be systematically incorporated into theory. also reviews basic total angular distribution cross section formulas considers alternative representation which reference is used. used bound-state calculations included more natural way. transformation theory introduced Chang Fano discussed they show that different representations regions space. possibility vibrational occurring collision briefly some approaches for excitation.
