摘要: In this report the authors discuss potential approaches for reducing emissions of particulate matter (PM) from road vehicle non-exhaust sources, such as tyre wear, brake surface wear and resuspension dust. The measures include improved materials, in situ particle collection destruction, design, cleaning, use dust suppressants de-icing liquids. However, with exception sweeping/washing compounds, hardly any published literature refers specifically to effectiveness at PM emissions. various are therefore tentatively rated according several factors, including likely impact on emissions, cost technical feasibility. Reducing average weight silt loading (e.g. by washing, sweeping, etc.) ought lead a reduction resuspension. evidence indicates that sweeping or washing is not particularly effective means PM10 concentrations. certain liquids appears be associated ambient levels. application may also effective, but there concerns about health environmental impacts compounds used. Little known vehicle-based abatement options, currently no legislative requirements manufacturers control it doubtful relevant technologies will introduced near future. concludes further experimental work required evaluate different methods improving air quality.
