摘要: The extent of children’s exposure to multiple toxic metals is not well described in many developing countries. We examined exposures young children (6 – 37 months) from Montevideo, Uruguay and their mothers (15 47 y) participating a community-based study. Hair samples collected 180 were analyzed for: lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), manganese (Mn), arsenic (As) concentration using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Median levels (μg/g) were: Pb 13.69, Mn 1.45, Cd 0.17, As 0.09 for 4.27, 1.42, 0.08, 00.02 mothers. Of the child maternal samples, 1.7% 2.9% below limit detection (LOD) Cd, 21% 38.5% LOD As, respectively. Correlations between ranged 0.38–0.55 (p<0.01). Maternal hair strongest predictors metal concentrations hair. Girls had significantly lower than boys (p<0.01) but did differ on other metals. In addition, bivariate logistic regressions predicting likelihood that would be exposed metals, hemoglobin <10.5 g/dL (OR=2.12, p<0.05), blood (OR=1.17, p<0.01), mother being two or more (OR=3.34, p<0.01) identified as significant increased exposure. Older age (OR=0.96, higher education (OR=0.35, number household possessions (OR=0.83, associated with decreased Preschool are at studies have been cognitive behavioral deficits. Sources exposure, consequences should investigated this population.
