摘要: Sound change has traditionally been viewed as the result of microscopic changes in production speech, thus it is considered gradual and unperceivable. Ohala's program Experimental Historical Phonology contends that sound mainly perceptually driven can be demonstrated laboratory using tools experimental phonetics. Two phonetically motivated mechanisms underlie most changes: hypo-correction hyper-correction. Hypo-corrective occurs when a listener fails to correct perturbations speech signal takes at face value. Hyper-corrective happens overanalyzes incorrectly attributes an intended phonetic cue contextual. The union scientific phonetics historical linguistics proved fertile ground for cross-disciplinary pollination. study consistently provided raw materials phonological typologies explanations while linguists, turn, use these constructs their hypotheses about trajectories reconstructions.
