摘要: Background The aim of this study was to investigate the current situation low vision services and barriers service delivery in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Methods An exploratory undertaken assess available services, human resources, training, equipment assistive devices, supportive policies, needs people with community attitudes toward vision. In-depth interviews 50 key informants were conducted in-country. Key included eye-care practitioners (n = 13), special education teachers (n = 10), community-based rehabilitation workers (n = 3), other stakeholders providing disability-related (n = 8), (n = 14) their family members (n = 2). Interview transcripts analysed inductively deductively using thematic analysis. Results Barriers identified at systems levels. The level were: not a priority area for eye care programs, limited availability trained personnel devices; training programs lack awareness referral among providers. distance, costs transport access negative attitudes. Conclusion This has from perspectives different stakeholders, including providers families. Knowledge these can now guide development future PNG.
