The challenging life of wave energy devices at sea: A few points to consider

摘要: Abstract Wave power devices offer great prospects for the marine renewable energy sector. But in comparison to wind energy, wave is still its infancy, mainly prototype-based, with technological gaps akin those experienced sector some 15 years ago. Several aspects that did not seem significant at a first glance design phase, such as interaction environment, turned out be important when prototypes were put water. In fact, these have face challenges once sea and several survived. Firstly, ocean waves are an innocuous, predictable flow of water secondly, life thrives ocean. perfect artificial reefs suitable algal growth colonization by many species. And they will sustain harsh conditions over two decades while producing energy. For obvious reasons, there lack existing literature on subject. this short review we address simple question: how tough be? The answer based available evidence.
