摘要: The concepts, experiments, and interpretations of ionic current measurements after a step change the squid axon membrane potential require to be constant for duration area measured. An experimental approach this ideal has been developed. Electrometer, operational, control amplifiers produce between internal micropipette external electrodes within 40 microseconds few millivolts. With an electrode effective resistance 2 ohm cm.(2), may millivolts 10 per cent out near ends. maximum patterns best axons are several times larger but type described by Cole analyzed Hodgkin Huxley when is adequately controlled. occasional obvious distortions attributed marginal adequacy expected from characteristics axon. Improvements only increase stability accuracy. No reason found either question qualitative early or so discredit analyses made them.
