Effect of S segregation on the surface magnetism of Fe(100).

摘要: Bulk impurities of the ferromagnetic transition metals segregate at surface moderate temperature and severely modify magnetic properties. S segregation on Fe(100) produces a stable c(2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2) reconstruction 600 \ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C. We have measured change properties due to formation c(2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2)S by measuring exchange coupling along path perpendicular via spin-wave stiffness relative iron moment photoemission dichroism experiments spin-polarization measurements secondary yield. A stronger between bulk then for clean free is found. Changes Fe 3p core hole splitting show that reduced up 20% upon with respect surface. Strong electron states just below Fermi level indicates filling minority spin band in c(2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2)S/Fe(100) \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
