摘要: This thesis explores learning for environmental decision making (EDM), from the viewpoints of what and who provide necessary support, how why practitioners engage in EDM. Learning systems communities practice (CoPs) are two main concepts used to frame interpret research. The empirical focus is on experiences involved a UKbased Masters level course European research project, 'learning EDM' perspective. study draws range theories informed by analysis discourses social learning. Conducting inquiries – one course-based, other project-based proved be an effective way researching multiorganisational contexts that characteristic Commonalities identified among different individuals' professional personal EDM means support. Leverage points recognised where future support might usefully deployed design focused. Three models developed help explore dynamic processes These (i) model interdependent levels change (ii) extension Vickers' appreciative (iii) trajectory diagrams. A theoretical framework systemic also proposed, including generic form. The reveals importance direct learners' perspectives, incremental nature over time engagement with issues mediated transformations socially negotiated. Both CoPs perspectives highlight interconnections relationships EDM. They considering practices as duality. concludes both offer 'know-how' required future.
