Crossing the Divide: Building Bridges between Public Administration Practitioners and Scholars

摘要: This article discusses the challenges of better connecting public administration (PA) scholarship to practice and recommends solutions address those in three areas – engaged scholarship, teaching, faculty. To strengthen connection between research practice, strategies are proposed such as publishing summaries research, creating open access online journals, establishing learning communities, developing a new journal for cutting-edge PA that is written practitioner accessible format. Strategies linking our teaching include emphasizing problem-based techniques, utilizing executive education programs test relevancy incorporating additional pedagogical training into doctoral programs. As strategy promoting more faculty, we encourage greater participation academic-practitioner exchange In order faculty be engaged, changes tenure promotion expectations also needed, well an expansion institutional incentives scholarship.
