摘要: Accurate measurement of the lifetime neutron (which is unstable to beta decay) important for understanding weak nuclear force and creation matter during Big Bang. Previous measurements have mainly been limited by certain systematic errors; however, these could in principle be avoided performing on neutrons stored a magnetic trap. Neutral charged particle traps are widely used tool studying both composite elementary particles, because they allow long interaction times isolation from perturbing environments. Here we report trapping neutrons. The region filled with superfluid 4-He, which load into trap as scintillator detect their decay. Neutrons 750 +330/-200 seconds, decay rather than losses. Our experiment verifies theoretical predictions regarding loading process Further refinement this method should lead improved precision measurement.
