Superthermal source of ultracold neutrons for fundamental physics experiments.

摘要: Ultracold neutrons (UCNs) play an important role for precise measurements of the properties neutron and its interactions. During past 25 years, a turbine coupled to liquid deuterium cold source at high-flux reactor has defined state art UCN production, despite long history efforts towards new generation sources. This Letter reports world-best density available users, achieved with based on conversion in superfluid helium. A volume 5 liters provides least 274 000 single accumulation run. Cyclically repeated operation been demonstrated, as well.
