摘要: Electrodiagnostic testing is the core diagnostic modality for patients with a suspected myopathy. It consists of nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG). Despite recent advances in molecular genetics significant improvement imaging quality, it still pertinent part process most patients. are considered an extension physical examination useful workup patient myopathy.NCS usually precedes needle EMG provides valuable information about function sensory motor fibers. NCS normal majority disorders muscle assists excluding disease mimickers. In some cases, specialized tests, such as repetitive stimulation, can be employed to evaluate neuromuscular junction, another cause pure weakness. The performance evaluation myopathy involves placement recording electrode inside analysis electrical potentials at rest activation. The selection muscles electrodiagnostic depends on clinical scenario technical limitations. Testing clinically weak increases yield test. Most myopathies affect proximal muscles; therefore, limb-girdle paraspinal tested. certain myopathies, distal preferentially involved (myofibrillar muscular dystrophies). this lead not only abnormal but also conductions due atrophy.Electrodiagnostic allow confirmation diagnosis assist identifying etiology, they used suitable site biopsy or direct further genetic testing.
