Oxidation resistance of Si-coated TZM alloy prepared through combined process of plasma spray and laser surface melting

摘要: Abstract Plasma thermal spraying of Si coating layer on titanium–zirconium–molybdenum (Ti–Zr–Mo), TZM alloy, was conducted for the surface protection Mo substrate that is unstable in air at high temperatures. Although plasma alone could protect alloy from oxidation a temperature short time, post laser melting process further improved resistance Si-coated alloy. In case treated specimen, MoSi compounds, mainly 2 phases, were formed during additional annealing process, and be even enhanced. The corrosion behaviors specimens 3.5% NaCl solution also investigated; however, no significant variations with respect to treatment procedure found.
