摘要: Received 28 December 2009; accepted 19 January 2010; published 2 March 2010. [1] Both local and large‐scale processes affect the Amazon hydrologic cycle. We investigate impact of deep soils on atmosphere through feedbacks. The Simple Biosphere model, version 3 (SiB3), is coupled to a single column model. Historically, land surface schemes parameterize soil moisture stress based shallow incorrectly capture seasonal cycles in Amazon. Following observations, SiB3 updated allow roots access at depth. new (“Unstressed”) has stronger cycle, with increased evapotranspiration export during dry season. boundary layer responds changes its depth, relative humidity, turbulent kinetic energy, these feed back influence wet season onset intensity. Differences atmospheric latent heating could circulation global results have important consequences for modeling cycle climate models. Citation: Harper, A. B., S. Denning, I. T. Baker, M. D.
