摘要: Abstract We studied, prospectively, seroconversion for Helicobacter pylori in adults from a developing country and investigated risk factors the acquisition of microorganism this population. A group 213 volunteers low socioeconomic level district metropolitan area Belo Horizonte, south-east Brazil was evaluated. Anti- H. IgG antibodies were measured by ELISA using Cobas Core anti- EIA (Roche) serum samples collected 1992 1997. The subjects interviewed sociodemographic data collected. total 174 (81·7%) presented on occasion first visit. During 56 months follow-up, 2 39 seronegative converted to seropositive with an annual infection rate 1·1%, reverted (0·2%/year). prevalence increased significantly age inverse association observed between educational level. In conclusion, results present study demonstrate that there is but continuous adulthood.
