摘要: This in vitro study evaluated the performance of 16-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) assessment carotid plaque components, with histology as gold standard. Twenty-one specimens (n=21) were scanned and reconstructed after optimization protocol. Three corresponding MDCT images histologic sections selected from each specimen. The Hounsfield values (HV) major components (calcifications, fibrous tissue lipid) assessed. Plaque areas (mm2) assessed compared results analysis. A value 140 kVp an intermediate reconstruction algorithm was optimal In 15 out 21 it possible to match histology. HV calcifications, lipid 45±21, 79±20 960±491 HU (P<0.001), respectively. 27 matched levels. calcified on correlate well (R2=0.83 R2=0.68, respectively). mean difference area 0.1 mm2 (95% CI=−2.1–2.3 mm2). showed that is capable characterizing quantifying rich portion atherosclerotic plaque.
