Chronic administration of risperidone in a rat model of schizophrenia: a behavioural, morphological and molecular study.

摘要: In the present work we analyzed effect of chronic administration risperidone (2mg/kg over 65 days) on behavioural, morphological and molecular aspects in an experimental model schizophrenia obtained by bilateral injection ibotenic acid into ventral hippocampus new-born rats. Our results show that during their adult lives animals with hippocampal lesions exhibit different alterations, mainly at behavioural level gene expression dopamine D(2) 5-HT(2A) receptors. However, study performed prefrontal cortex did not reveal any alterations either thickness or number cells immunoreactive for c-Fos, GFAP, CBP PV. Overall, elicited a trend towards recovery values previously altered lesion, approaching seen without lesions. It may be concluded employed helps to improve functions, no significant negative effects.
