摘要: The present paper proposes the retrofit use of dynamic restrainers at expansion joint for preventing collapse bridges in event a severe earthquake. proposed restrainer consists nonlinear viscous damper and an elastic spring connected parallel. Two-dimensional finite element analysis using bilinear hysteretic models RC bridge substructure joints gap elements is performed on example with one or two joints. numerical simulation study indicates that are substantially effective reducing relative opening displacements impact forces due to pounding It also found can be installed abutment as well between adjacent frames avoid possible increase ductility demands substructures.
