Histochemical and histological effects of lead on the liver and kidney of the dog.

摘要: In a series of 3 experiments, beagle dogs were dosed orally with lead carbonate and the histochemical histological changes in liver kidney assessed. Dosing at 50 mg/kg per day for 5 weeks resulted well documented hydropic degeneration liver; significant alterations activity majority enzymes studied also seen both organs. one week or 100 no mainly confined to dehydrogenases NADPH diaphorase. A third group weeks; during subsequent recovery period almost 2 months mild clinical effects produced by dosing quickly reversible except dogs. At end evident organs these principally shown reduction liver. The findings are interpreted as an effect on range cellular particularly those involved energy production, being still demonstrable after extended period.
