摘要: Abstract In 17 urethane-anesthetized rats 35 neurons, histologically verified as being situated in the locus coeruleus, were driven antidromically (latency, 44 msec) by electrical stimulation of supracallosal bundle. Neurons coeruleus also activated sites along dorsal noradrenergic bundle midbrain (8-msec latency) and hypothalamus (12-msec latency), olfactory bulb 39 msec). Conduction velocity from these to was estimated be 0.4 0.6 m/sec. Refractory periods fibers determined at twice threshold intensities just above threshold; refractory ranging 4 20 msec observed. Because neurons both near whereas only could not used identify neurons. It is concluded that a subpopulation can identified their slow, steady firing rate (2.6 per second) long-latency antidromic response The electrophysiological properties are considered relation neuroanatomical functional studies coeruleus.
